All the business information from SAP applications and external sources can be integrated to SAP BW and it provides a flexible system for reporting and analysis to interpret data and to facilitate distribution. SAP Business Information Warehouse (BW) helps organizations to make easy decisions and determine the target orientated procedures.

4. The business information from various SAP applications can be integrated and consolidated in Business Information Warehouse.

There are four sub-areas in SAP Business Information Warehouse (BW) and these areas are

Data warehousing

Data warehousing in SAP BW refers to the data storage, data integration, data transformation, and data cleanup, and consolidation process. The warehousing process includes data modeling and administration of data through the warehouse management module.

BI Platform

The BI platform is a technical infrastructure and it is used for performing various functions and analytical processes. It supports functionalities of OLAP processes, Business Planning and Simulation, Metadata repository, data mining and reporting.

BI Suite: Business Explorer

The SAP Business intelligence Suite is the Business Explorer and it provides reporting and analysis tools which are used for operational reporting and for decisions making. These tools provide support for query, analysis and reporting, and access authorizations for security. The management can view the reports of the company and employee on web and also in MS Excel.
The procedures provided by the module are used for distributing information through email. The information can be in the form of pre-calculated documents having live or pre calculated data.

The business explorer provides a number of reports and data through web based tools using enterprise portal. It provides support for internet based applications and mobile technologies and the information can be gained through user access.

Development Technologies

BI uses the Java SDK and one can create analytical applications which can be used to access both the multi dimensional and tabular data. The data can be edited and one can display data as needed. The BI Java Connectors and a group of four JCA enabled resource adapters can be used for BI Java SDK APIs and it will allow connecting applications which are created with SDK for various data sources.

Open Analysis interfaces makes the interface available for connecting front end tools which is taken from the third party providers'. The Web Design API and table interface helps to realize demands for highly complex needs.
